Japanese fashion retailer Uniqlo will open its second Long Island store Friday at Roosevelt Field mall in Garden City.

Friday's grand opening, starting at 10 a.m., will mark the retailer's ninth store in New York. The opening was pushed back from the original date of Aug. 29.

The first Uniqlo on Long Island opened in November at Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove. Both malls are owned by Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group Inc.

Uniqlo has more than 1,400 stores in 16 markets worldwide, including Japan, Australia, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the United Kingdom. There are 32 stores in the United States.
