Using social media for help with Irene

Twitter and Facebook – they’re not just for socializing.
In times of disaster and significant threats – Hello, Irene – people increasingly are turning to social media and mobile technology to seek help and get and give information. That’s according to the American Red Cross, which recently released findings of two surveys.
“Social media is becoming an integral part of disaster response,” said Wendy Harman, director of social strategy, in a release.
