Verint Systems Inc., Long Island's largest software maker, has acquired a digital customer service and marketing unit from Zimbra Inc. of Dallas.

The Melville-based company said its acquisition of the unit, Telligent, will expand the capabilities of data-analysis software it sells to corporations.

Verint did not disclose terms of the deal, which will include 30 Telligent employees joining the Long Island company.

"We are delighted to welcome Telligent to the Verint family and to offer our customers the added value that communities bring to our customer engagement optimization portfolio," said Elan Moriah, head of Verint's enterprise intelligence operations.

Verint, founded in 1994, produces programs that are primarily used to analyze data in corporate call centers. Its customers include 80 percent of Fortune 100 companies. It also sells security and surveillance programs to government agencies around the globe.
