Verint quarterly revenue climbs to $196.6M
Verint Systems Inc., a Melville-based technology company, reported strong earnings Wednesday, saying it swung from loss to profit as demand has increased for its security and data-analysis software.
The company said revenue climbed to $196.6 million for the first three months of 2012, up 12 percent from the same period last year.
Net income attributable to the company was $10 million, compared with a $112,000 loss during the first quarter of 2011.
Verint, founded in 1994, produces software used by businesses and government agencies to sift through mountains of data from telephone calls and surveillance cameras to detect potential problems.
The company's rise in sales comes as technology is playing an increasingly important role in security systems.
"You are seeing more municipalities, more transportation agencies and airports spending on advanced solutions," said Daniel H. Ives, a senior analyst for FBR Capital Markets & Co.
