Striking Verizon workers in Southampton tried to get Vice President Joe Biden to listen to their cause.

The workers  were picketing Wednesday morning in front of a Southampton home where Biden was vacationing, union officials confirmed. It was not known whether Biden was aware of their presence.

About 25 workers from the Communications Workers of American were present at the location between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Police were called and they asked the workers to move down the street a bit, according to union business agent Ivan Millian.

Robert Morrow, president of the union’s Local 1108 representing Suffolk County workers, said the action was a “morning exercise” by workers to get the vice president’s attention, and he added that the workers had probably returned to their main picket locations in front of Verizon facilities on David Whites Lane and Windmill Lane in Southampton.

Marrow also said CWA negotiators will go back to the table with Verizon about 3 p.m. Wednesday in Rye in Westchester County.
