Within two years, Paul Fetkowitz has expanded his airsoft facility, Strikeforce Sports, from a small pro shop to include an indoor arena and a training space for law enforcement.
And he’s not stopping. Fetkowitz said he plans on opening another airsoft space by year’s end. That is a lot to show for a father who initially started the business because of his son’s interest in airsoft.
The sport of airsoft has its participants grouped into teams against each other in a combative situation. Players use exact firearm replicas, powered by battery or compressed gas, to shoot plastic BBs as ammunition. The sport started in East Asia and was introduced in America in the 1980s. In recent years, it’s seen a resurgence in popularity in the U.S.
Many may initially be confused to what airsoft really entails, and an adequate description sometimes eludes the power of words. So here’s a Newsday video of players in action at Strikeforce Sports.
