For a visual look at where more or fewer homes were sold nationwide in the first four months of 2010, check out this post on the blog for personal finance and budgeting site Mint.com. (Long Island turns up in this graphic.)

Long Island shows up on the third chart of the 10 most expensive areas in the country. The $376,900 median home price on the Island — where values rose 0.1 percent compared to the same quarter a year ago — makes the area the 8th most expensive.

The area labeled ‘New York/Long Island’, 6th on the list, refers to the greater New York metropolitan area that includes parts of northern New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The median price was $380,400, a 1.8 percent increase over a year ago.
