Who has best water on Long Island? Farmingdale contest to determine results
Who has the best water on Long Island -- or at least bragging rights -- is to be decided one sip at a time at a contest this week in Farmingdale.
More than two dozen water suppliers will try to make a splash at the Best-Tasting Water Contest at Farmingdale State College that runs Tuesday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Students and the public will be able to sample tap water from several water suppliers from across Long Island.
The contest, now in its 30th year, is sponsored by the Long Island Water Conference, an association of water suppliers in Nassau and Suffolk counties. Association chairman Michael O'Connell said in a news release that his group hopes to raise awareness about the importance of protecting the drinking water supply.
"We want pure, great-tasting water for generations in the future to enjoy as well," O'Connell said in the release.
