An idea to make and test wind turbines on the site of the shuttered Shoreham Nuclear Power Station was brought up at a LIPA advisory committee meeting last week, a North Shore newspaper reports.
“A wind turbine testing facility. A turbine testing and manufacturing plant. Even a testing, manufacturing and research development park, a sort of one-stop shop for the wind turbine industry,” the North Shore Sun reports. “Those three potential scenarios for the defunct Shoreham power plant property were kicked around at LIPA's Shoreham Advisory Committee meeting last Friday.”
Only the idea of a wind turbine testing facility got support from local leaders in attendance, the report says.
