Woodbury, Syosset CPA firms merge

A new accounting practice, to be based in Syosset and in Manhattan, has been formed with the merger of two independent certified public accounting firms.

MayerMeinberg Llp will have two offices, at 6900 Jericho Tpke., Syosset, and 14 Penn Plaza, Manhattan. Co-managing partners are Robert O. Mayer and Mark L. Meinberg.

The components of the merger are Mayer & Co. Llp, which has been in business since 1992; and Feldman, Meinberg & Co., in business more than 60 years and based at the Syosset location.

While the two companies complete the merger the firm will operate out of the Mayer & Co. offices at 99 Sunnyside Blvd. in Woodbury.

"Bob and I have found that there exists an ideal synergy between the two firms, from our expertise in congruent practice areas to the core values we uphold," Meinberg said in announcing the merger on Thursday.

"The realities of the economic downturn have demanded reorganization, refinancing and retooling among many of our clients . . . We've played a critical role as a liaison with financial institutions and investors," Meinberg said.
