A Hempstead commercial laundry will get an increased workload after a corporate decision to shut down an upstate facility and move the work to Long Island.

No word yet whether the change will add jobs to the Angelica Textile Services laundry at 44 Newmans Court, Hempstead Village.

Angelica specializes in hospital bedding and uniforms.

A national corporation based in Missouri, Angelica will close its laundry in Ballston Spa in September, a company official said Tuesday.

The change will result in job losses for 93 Ballston Spa workers.

“As the result of that shutdown, the work from tha closing location will be moved to Angelica's Hempstead location later this year,” Alan VanDyke, the company’s vice president for employee relations, said in an email.
