Workshops help veterans brush up their job-hunt skills
Veterans who want to spiff up their job-hunting skills will find help at the Suffolk County One-Stop Employment Center in Hauppauge starting this week.
Two workshops will help vets create "a winning resume," learn interviewing techniques, acquire professional attire and identify skills that are transferrable from the military to the civilian workplace.
The workshops will take place on Friday and on Oct. 10. Each will run from 1 to 3 p.m. Advance registration is required. Call the center at 631-853-6600.
Vets will receive clothing from the Career Couture Boutique, which the Suffolk County Department of Labor inaugurated earlier this year to provide free professional clothing, shoes and accessories to eligible job seekers.
