The Nasdaq composite is closing out its best week in nearly nine months after getting a boost from a big gain in Google's stock.

Google surged 16 percent after reporting earnings that exceeded the expectations of Wall Street analysts.

The Nasdaq climbed 46 points, or 0.9 percent, to 5,210 Friday. The tech-heavy index is at an all-time high.

The Dow Jones industrial average closed down 33 points, or 0.2 percent, at 18,086.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose two points, or 0.1 percent, to 2,126.

Energy companies sank as the price of oil fell for a third straight week.

Bond prices didn't move much. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note was little changed from Thursday at 2.35 percent.
