Kemp Technologies, a Yaphank computer device maker, said Wednesday that it has settled a patent dispute with a competitor.
The lawsuit, F5 Networks Inc. v. Kemp Technologies Inc., was filed in U.S. District Court in Washington state.
The terms of the settlement agreement are confidential, Kemp said.
The focus of the suit was on F5’s specific designs for cookie persistence, an aspect of online user-tracking programs.
In the dispute, F5, of Seattle, Wash., said Kemp had infringed on its patent titled "Method and System for Storing Load Balancing Information with a HTTP Cookie."
Kemp Technologies makes load balancers, devices that can be wired to numerous servers to distribute bandwidth flow and prevent overloads.
