First Chevy Volt auctioned for $225,000
The first commercially produced Chevrolet Volt has sold for $225,000 in an online auction.
Chevrolet said it will announce the auction winner, and present the auction proceeds to the Detroit Public Schools Foundation, after verifying the final bid.
The vehicle offered in the charity auction was the first Chevrolet Volt available for sale, bearing the vehicle identification number ending in BU100002. It has a silver green exterior, which the company calls viridian joule, and a light neutral interior with dark accents.
The auction car has polished wheels and the premium trim package, a rear camera and a park assist package. Included in the auction is a 240-volt charging station and home installation.
All proceeds from the auction will benefit the foundation's support of science, technology, engineering and math initiatives for Detroit Public Schools students.
