BY THE NUMBERS GM sold 245,256 cars and trucks last month, up 11 percent compared with 221,192 in April of 2011. Buick and GMC brand sales were each up more than 19 percent, while Chevrolet sales rose 10 percent. But Cadillac sales fell 15 percent.
TOP SELLERS The Silverado pickup at 34,555, up almost 22 percent from a year earlier. Chevy Malibu midsize car at 29,579, up 16 percent.
HOT MODELS New Chevrolet Sonic subcompact with sales of 7,205. Chevy Equinox midsize crossover SUV at 20,238, up 15 percent.
Also the Chevy Avalanche four-door midsize pickup saw a 70 percent increase to 2,113.
