The 1928-31 Model As are so durable and beloved that experts estimate several hundred thousand may still be on the road. These good-looking, simple-to-fix cars are prized for their ability to lure first-time collectors, such as Delman, into the hobby. "I purchased it . . . without knowing anything about it or old cars in general," he says of his rare coupe, which looks like a convertible with a fixed top.
"I did not know if it was called a Model A or Model T. In fact, I did not even know it was a Ford. All I knew was that I saw one on the road and had to have one. I saw it on a Sunday and by that Wednesday, I owned one."
