In recent years, Mitsubishi has condensed its automotive lineup, axing most normal and performance-oriented models in anticipation of a brand identity change.

Now they've just announced that one of their few remaining models, the Outlander crossover, will debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show as a plug-in hybrid.

The Outlander EV won't be the first plug in hybrid, but it will be the first permanent 4WD electric car in mass production.

More details will surface at the 2012 Paris Auto Show in October.
