 James Alterbaum has joined the board of directors at The Maurer Foundation. The Great Neck resident is a senior partner in the corporate/mergers and acquisitions practice area at Moses and Singer in Manhattan and chairman of its accounting law practice. 
 Dr. Michael M. Ziegelbaum has been appointed president-elect of the Nassau County Medical Society. He is a urologist at the Lake Success division of Advanced Urology Centers of New York, an assistant clinical professor at Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine, and lives in Jericho. 
 LAW 
 Christine Ruppert joins Manhattan-based law firm Karlinsky as chief financial officer. The Westhampton resident was a director in the municipal underwriting department of Financial Security Assurance in Manhattan. 
 REAL ESTATE 
 Elisa Spada joins Homes By Mara Realty in Syosset as a licensed sales agent. She held a similar position at Laffey Fine Homes in Greenvale. The Syosset resident will also continue in her role as an executive assistant with Newman Design in Cold Spring Hills.
