Deborah K. Herman has been named to the board of directors at Long Island Cares Inc. -- The Harry Chapin Food Bank. The Commack resident is founder and president of DKH Communications, a magazine and custom publishing company in Commack.
Gary Thayer has been appointed to serve on the advisory council on employee welfare and pension benefit plans at the U.S. Department of Labor. He is an associate at the Melville law firm Archer, Byington, Glennon & Levine and lives in Merrick.
Sheryl Buro, comptroller and office administrator at The Long Island Contractors' Association, has been appointed to the Suffolk County Industrial and Commercial Incentive Board, which encourages towns and villages to identify commercial and industrial areas eligible for a tax abatement program. She is a Farmingville resident.
All Saints Regional School in Glen Cove announced two new board members: Kathleen Deegan Dickson is a real estate partner at Forchelli, Curto, Deegan, Schwartz, Mineo, Cohn & Terrana in Uniondale and lives in Glen Cove. Kevin C. Horton is editor and publisher of the Gold Coast Gazette in Glen Cove and is a Sea Cliff resident.
Jim Morgo, president of Morgo Private Public Strategies and part-time economic development coordinator for the Town of Brookhaven, has been appointed to the Stony Brook University Council, an advisory body to the institution and the president and senior officers of Stony Brook University. Morgo is a Bayport resident.
FINANCE
Nancy Obermeyer has been named branch manager of Astoria Federal Savings' Bay Shore branch. The East Islip resident was a business banker for JPMorgan Chase in Sayville.
HEALTH CARE
Dr. Lloyd Lense has joined the division of cardiology as an associate professor of clinical medicine in the School of Medicine at Stony Brook University. The Setauket resident is founder and former president of Three Village Cardiology in East Setauket.
LAW
Neil M. Kaufman has joined Abrams, Fensterman, Fensterman, Eisman, Greenberg, Formato & Einiger in Lake Success as partner and chairman of its corporate department. The Dix Hills resident was a partner at Davidoff, Malito & Hutcher in Garden City.
Heather L. Winters has been promoted to partner at the newly renamed Garden City law firm of Davis & Winters. The Queens resident had been as an associate at the firm for six years.
Marc Sackin has joined Reisman Peirez & Reisman in Garden City as an associate. The Brooklyn resident was an associate at Baker & McKenzie in Manhattan.
TRANSPORTATION
JetFlite International, a Farmingdale-based provider of aircraft management and charter services has named Pat Marano vice president, business development for the U.S. eastern region. The West Haven, Conn., resident was manager of business development at Key Air in Oxford, Conn.
