BOARDS/ASSOCIATIONS 
 Joel S. Kaplan has been appointed to the board of directors of Freeport-based Woodward Children's Center. The Woodmere resident is a partner at law firm Kaplan Belsky Ross Bartell in Garden City. Woodward Children's Center provides special-education services and support for students and families challenged by social, emotional, and behavioral disorders. 
 HEALTH CARE 
 John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson has announced two promotions. 
 Christine Livreri was promoted to assistant vice president, financial planning. The St. James resident was director of reimbursement and cost accounting and has been with the hospital since 1999. 
 Kelly Mullane was named director of patient access. The Sound Beach resident joined Mather in 2003 and will continue to oversee the insurance verification department. 
 NONPROFITS 
 Dara L. Gary has been promoted to chief strategic business officer at Old Bethpage-based Family Residences and Essential Enterprises (FREE), which benefits Long Islanders with developmental disabilities, mental illness or traumatic brain injury. The Manorville resident is a CPA and was chief financial officer since joining FREE in 1987.
