Dr. Yusuf A. Hannun, a molecular biologist and physician-scientist investigating the molecular mechanisms of cancer, has been appointed director of the Stony Brook Cancer Center, the Joel Kenny professor of medicine, and vice dean for cancer medicine. Hannun comes to Stony Brook from the Medical University of South Carolina. His decade as deputy director of MUSC's Hollings Cancer Center led to its emergence as a National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center in 2009. (March 2012) Credit: Handout

Kenneth J. Sapanski of Massapequa has joined Suffolk County National Bank in Riverhead as senior vice president and loan administration department head. He was most recently associated with Madison National Bank, where he was senior vice president and chief credit administration officer.

Dr. Eric L. Freeman of South Island Orthopaedic Group in Cedarhurst has joined Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre as director of orthopedic surgery and chief of sports medicine. He is a Roslyn resident.
