GOVERNMENT
Capt. John C. Kennedy has been named assistant superintendent for regimental affairs/commandant of the midshipmen at U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point. He is retired after 30 years of active-duty service in the Marine Corps where his last assignment was director, humanities and social sciences division and senior Marine Corps representative at the U.S. Naval Academy. He will live in U.S. Government rental quarters at the academy.
BOARDS & ASSOCIATIONS
Michael J. Kerr has been named to the board of trustees of the Long Beach Medical Center. He is the founder of Fire Command Co. in Long Beach and Springfield Gardens and is in his sixth year as president of the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce. Kerr is a Long Beach resident.
Mark K. Goodman has been named president of Children's Medical Fund of New York, a nonprofit group that raises funds for medical facilities and vital programs for Cohen Children's Medical Center of New York in New Hyde Park. The East Hills resident is the managing partner at the Garden City financial services firm, Janover.
BOOKS
Michael P. Huseby has joined Barnes & Noble as chief financial officer and will work from the Manhattan office. The Locust Valley resident most recently served as executive vice president and chief financial officer at Cablevision Systems Corp. in Bethpage.
FINANCE
Rocco Sabino has joined Suffolk Federal Credit Union in Medford as chief financial officer. The Shoreham resident was chief financial officer at Sperry Associates Federal Credit Union in Garden City Park.
Brian Sackstein has joined the Jericho accounting firm Grassi & Co. as a not-for-profit audit principal. He was an assurance director a McGladrey and Pullen in Manhattan and lives in Plainview.

HEALTH CARE
Developmental Disabilities Institute, a service provider for Long Island children and adults with autism, announced the hiring of Dr. Rene Molnar and Dr. Deepika Sood for its Opti-Healthcare division. The division, DDI's network of diagnostic and treatment centers, is designed to meet the requirements of patients with autism and other disabilities, and also serves the general community. Dr. Molnar is a family practitioner in East Patchogue, where he lives. Dr. Sood is psychiatrist with a specialty in geriatrics. She works for the Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center in Jamaica and lives in Hempstead.
REAL ESTATE
Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage announced new hires. Northport resident Louise Fox has joined the Northport office as a sales agent. She was most recently a senior buyer at BAE Systems in Greenlawn.
Angela Soderlund has joined the Ronkonkoma-Patchogue regional office as a sales agent. The Shirley resident held a similar post at Coldwell Banker M&D Good Life in Shirley.
Alvaro Dumancela has also joined the Ronkonkoma-Patchogue regional office as a sales agent. Dumancela, of East Patchogue, most recently owned Dumancela & Labarbera Consulting in East Patchogue.
