Dr. Julie Cherian has been appointed assistant professor of clinical pediatrics in the division of pediatric rheumatology at Stony Brook University School of Medicine and to the medical staff at Stony Brook Long Island Children's Hospital. Cherian comes to Stony Brook from NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center in Manhattan, where she was a fellow in pediatric rheumatology. She lives in Dix Hills. EDUCATION
Simon Owen-Williams has been named head of school at Portledge School, a pre-nursery through grade 12 college-preparatory school in Locust Valley. He currently holds a similar position at Carlisle School in Martinsville, Va., and will be relocating to Long Island.

FINANCE
John F. Sullivan has joined Washington, D.C.-based Tollefson & Co. as senior vice president of marketing. The Garden City resident will work with midsize firms managing their investment portfolios. Prior to joining Tollefson & Company, he was director of marketing and media relations at Argus Research in Manhattan.

Jennifer Wassenbergh was promoted from marketing assistant to marketing coordinator at the Garden City accounting firm of Margolin, Winer & Evens. She lives in Island Park.

Phillip Laycock has joined Grassi & Co. as audit partner. He was a partner at Blackman Kallick in Chicago and lives in Manhattan. He brings to the Jericho firm audit, tax and consulting experience in the manufacturing and distribution practice area. Laycock will work out of the firm's Manhattan office.

Eva Klein
has joined Ruskin Moscou Faltischek in Uniondale as counsel to the firm in its real estate department. The Lawrence resident was most recently a shareholder in the real estate department of Stearns Weaver Miller Weissler Alhadeff and Sitterson in Miami. Additionally, she was a member of the firm's hiring committee and board of directors.

Steven P. Block has become a partner at Futterman & Lanza. The Smithtown firm will now be known as Futterman, Lanza & Block. Prior to merging his estate and elder law planning practice, the North Bellmore resident was a partner and co-chair of the trusts and estates department at Ruskin Moscou Faltischek in Uniondale.

Maxwell Padden has joined Kirschenbaum & Kirschenbaum in Garden City as an associate in the firm's commercial litigation department. The Brooklyn resident most recently was a consultant for restaurant groups in Manhattan.

NONPROFITS
David Black has been appointed executive director of the Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center in East Hills. He worked most recently at Yeshiva University in Manhattan as associate vice president for institutional advancement and lives in Chappaqua.
