Union seeking 100 construction apprentices

The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for Local No. 79 of the Construction and General Building Laborers union will begin taking applications Friday for 100 skilled construction craft laborer apprentices, officials said.

The recruitment period ends Oct. 23 or when 1,000 applications have been received, whichever comes first.

Applicants can apply online at mttf.org between 9 and 10 a.m. on weekdays. They should follow the links to Local No. 79 and fill out all the required fields on the form.

Applicants should be 18 or older, have a high school diploma or its equivalent, be physically able to do construction craft laborer work and pass a drug test.
