The Waldbaum's supermarket in Holbrook is slated to close in April, according to a state regulatory filing dated Friday. The notice cites "economic" reasons and states that 71 employees will be affected.

The chain's parent company, Montvale, N.J.-based A&P, said the planned closing is due to an expiring lease. In a statement issued Friday it also said that associates were notified earlier this week and that their future assignments will depend on the collective bargaining agreement.

The unionized workers are members of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 342. It couldn't be reached for comment. A&P emerged from bankruptcy in 2012.
