A Muttontown home on the market for $1.799 million was a circa-1930 carriage house that the current owners renovated, leaving many original details.

The five-bedroom, 4 1⁄2-bathroom house has some of the original flooring and wood beams, including the beams in the two-story family room. Some of the wood, which is from the same era, came from a structure in Vermont.

“You walk in and you really feel like you’re somewhere else in America, like in the heartland,” says listing agent Shalini Schetty of Signature Premier Properties.

The kitchen and bathrooms and kitchen were modernized, but the owners kept the original 1930s style.

Schetty says the openness of the home gives it a more modern feel.

“With a little bit of decorating, it can go from old world to a loft-like look,” Schetty says.
