2 Long Island families will get $100 TV home makeovers

Two Long Island families will have their clutter tamed by the pros on A&E’s new show “$100 Make-Over.”

Garden City interior designer Leslie Segrete (shown here), master carpenter Rib Hillis and professional organizer Robbie Laughlin will help two couples repurpose their own belongings and create organized spaces for only $100 per room.

“People just get busy with living and forget to take care of their homes, and that overwhelms them and their life becomes cluttered. It’s nice to be able to give them a fresh start both through organization and design,” says Segrete. “What we do is come in and help them sort through everything they’ve got to get rid of the stuff they don’t need and make better use of what they already have.” Once order is restored, the $100 goes towards things like paint and organizational items to spruce of the room with a fresh new look, she says.

Jenn and Anthony Zumpano and their two kids will get some help putting their smallish Commack house in order. “I like to cook, but I feel like I have to endure a number of booby traps just to get to the right things I want to cook,” says Anthony.

Rhonda and Michael Lebit of Nesconset have three boys and minimal storage space. “The closet space we have in this house wouldn’t be sufficient for a family of fleas,” Michael says.

The makeovers will be taped from April 30 to May 5, and the show will premiere at 10 a.m. June 19. The broadcasts for the Long Island episodes haven’t been scheduled yet.
