A writer who renovated her home to add an entire third floor that would become her office and studio just listed the Asharoken house for $899,000.
The four-bedroom house with three bathrooms and a half-bath was originally the owner's father's summer home.
"He loved it because it has water on both sides -- an inlet on the back and a beach on the other side," says Joan Hauser, who shares the house with her husband, Dick.
After the Hausers moved in, they started renovating, adding a staircase and doing their biggest project yet: adding that third floor.
The living room has a cathedral ceiling, and the kitchen has a walk-in pantry.
