32 LI communities on Forbes' richest list
Thirty-two local communities made the Forbes List of America's Most Expensive ZIP codes this week, based on housing prices.
Three Manhattan ZIP codes - 10014, 10065 and 10012 - landed on the top 10 list.
Coming in at No. 11 was Old Westbury, 11568, where the median home price was $3.1 million and the median household income was $163,046. That was big bump up from its place at 50 in 2009.
Many of the communities listed were along Nassau County's North Shore or on Suffolk's East End. Two communities had multiple ZIP codes listed: four in Great Neck and two in Roslyn.
The last Long Island ZIP code on the list, 11021 in Great Neck, was ranked No. 494. The median home price there is $516,993 and the median household income is $70,569.
The magazine said the median price of high-end homes “continues to slide, but not as fast as it did last year,” with the index showing the average home price fall 5 percent from last year, to $1.2 million. Prices for homes on last year’s list dropped 7 percent from the year before.
