This East Hampton Village cape, listed for $1.995 million, dates to 1740, says listing agent Brian Hagadorn of Douglas Elliman Real Estate.
The three-bedroom, two-bathroom house has the original timber-frame exterior and a dining room cooking fireplace that “speaks to the era that the house is from,” Hagadorn says.
The original structure includes the downstairs living space and what is now a second-level bedroom and bathroom. Hagadorn says an extension on the side of the house was believed to be constructed in the early 1800s, now used for two downstairs bedrooms and a bathroom.
Because of the house’s landmark designation, given in 2013, Hagadorn says the exterior cannot be altered. He adds that the possibility of having the option to add a second structure to the 0.43-acre property is being explored.
“If the town allows it, it could be like a little compound,” Hagadorn says. “It’s for a certain type of person who is into a unique type of historical home in the village.”
The property, which is on Egypt Lane, includes a detached garage and a shed.
