This all-glass East Hampton home, designed by Jeff Smilow, the structural engineer of the One World Trade Center at the World Trade Center, is on the market for $5.5 million.

The six-bedroom house is encased in floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the 1.93-acre property.

“There are no exterior walls at all — it’s completely glass,” says listing agent Lori Macgarva of Douglas Elliman Real Estate. “You have to want to live in a glass house.”

The three-level, 10,000-square-foot steel and glass structure, developed by Juan A. Figueroa, offers radiant heated floors throughout and smart home capabilities. The basement is accessed off the driveway by a tunnel that leads to an underground four-car garage, storage area, marble bathroom and customizable space.

The open floor plan on the main level includes a living room, dining area and custom kitchen made in Italy by Scavolini. The center of the open room has 23-foot ceilings with skylights. A wall of glass pivots to open to a patio area and a 27-by-55-foot in-ground pool with a hot tub.

“The wall is on a hinge and swings open to expose the entire interior,” says Kate Joynt, who is also marketing the property. “It’s modern industrial meets the outdoors.”

The house has twin staircases, one leading to an area with two master suites, and the other to a wing with four guest bedrooms, all en suite. The exterior walls on the upper level are also all glass, including in the marble master baths.

For those worried about privacy, the secluded property “backs up to a 20-acre East Hampton Town-owned property reserve, and that is never to be built in,” Macgarva says. “So you won’t have anybody looking in the windows.”
