Amagansett house on former LeRoy estate goes on market

A six-bedroom, 9 ½-bath home in Amagansett, once part of the Warner LeRoy estate, is on the market for $5.495 million.

The home served as the 2007 Hamptons Cottages & Gardens Idea House, and was built by architect Steven Semes on what was once part of LeRoy’s estate.

LeRoy, who died in 2001, had owned and operated several famous Manhattan eateries, including The Russian Tea Room and Tavern on the Green. His grandfather was Harry Warner, who founded Warner Bros. Studios. His father, Mervyn LeRoy, produced "The Wizard of Oz."

Bill Stoecker of Town and Country Real Estate in East Hampton says the home is “built to the highest standards, with gorgeous with French Oak floors throughout.” There’s a coffered-ceiling living room with fireplace, a media room/home theater with wet bar, a sauna, a wine room, a gym and a heated gunite pool and a solar-powered pool house with bath.

The 1.9-acre property is next to a reserve and surrounded by beech trees.
