This 5,000-square-foot East Moriches property, an 1865 converted barn, is listed for $1.395 million and has some art-related curiosities. In addition to the converted barn, there are several detached buildings both large and small. Collectively, the property offers six bedrooms and six bathrooms and a half-bath.
The property showcases some of owner-artist Ronnie Wiener's work. She purchased the property in 2004 from architect Ray Gomez and interior designer Mariette Gomez, who had transformed the main building from a dilapidated barn into a livable house, and she turned it into what it is today -- The Full Moon Arts Center, a nonprofit arts complex.
The 2.8-acre lot is lush, treed and manicured.
Wiener says the property has been used for art exhibitions, jazz and chamber music performances, aerial circus acts and studio space. Wiener made a film called "The Artists' Ego," which documented the period of time during which six artists were in residence. Their works of art were sold during an exhibition at the end of their stay.
An outdoor stage made of 19th century parquet wood is protected from the weather and has bamboo scaffolding. Wiener notes that it can also be used as a dance floor.
Wiener's own art installations include a tree house and a rocket ship. The tree house is staying, and the rocket ship and other art installations can be purchased separately.
The property is also home to a large in-ground, black-bottom pool, a cottage, a small storage building, two larger storage buildings and a 2 1/2-car garage with loft space.
There's no shortage of novelties indoors, either. Six horse stalls from the original barn were converted. One is a full bathroom, two are small children's bedrooms, another is a butler's pantry, another is a laundry space and the last is a cabana. The four larger bedrooms each have en suite bathrooms.
The property is listed with Vicky Reynolds of Norma Reynolds Sotheby's International Realty.
