Federal aid for businesses and homeowners affected by superstorm Sandy was approved this past week, and Gov.  Andrew M. Cuomo is making an effort to help Long Islanders receive their funds.

He announced Thursday that he's sending additional representatives from the state's Department of Financial Services to Long Island over the next week in order to help residents apply. If you think you can take care of the application process on your own, visit http://nysandyhelp.ny.gov/ to do so.
