This circa-1869 cottage near the Great South Bay in Brookhaven listed for $599,000, and has waterfront views from nearly every room in the house, says its listing agent.

The two-bedroom, one-bath home on a 0.27-acre lot is filled with original features such as wide-plank hardwood floors. More recently, solar panels were added.

“There are no houses nearby. It’s surrounded by wetlands at the end of a dead-end street,” says listing agent Christine Schaeffer of Eileen Green Realty. The cottage was previously part of a lodge and moved to its current location and expanded in the mid-1950s, she said.

The first floor of the 1,126-square-foot cottage includes a living room, a full bath and eat-in kitchen with a farm table; near the table, sliding doors open to a wooden deck. Two bedrooms — one of which also has a small deck — are upstairs.

The only indoor space lacking water views is an art studio in the detached one-car garage, where a wall of windows was placed to maximize northern light, Schaeffer says.
