Downsizing seems to be the theme for all – even Calvin Klein.

Back in 2003, the popular fashion designer purchased a 10-arce, 55,000-square-foot oceanfront estate on Meadow Lane in Southampton for $23 million. His immediate thought: make it smaller.

Six years later, the property, complete with spires, turrets and an indoor saltwater aquarium, was knocked down, as architect Michael Haverland presented Klein with plans for a smaller, more modern estate that is one-third the original size.

However, according to Curbed Hamptons, Klein declined, opting to make the property smaller – again.

The designer plans to bring in Stelle Architects, a developer known for simple, less-is-more homes, to help him build a smaller, greener abode.

Klein recently purchased another Hamptons home. The $2.1 million, 4,000-square-foot property is in Bridgehampton.
