Contests offer homeowners cash, makeovers and more

Here’s a chance to recoup some money if you put on a new roof using the Duration Series Designer Colors Collection of shingles from the Owens Cornings company. The “That’s My Roof!” contest invites homeowners to submit before and after photos through Oct. 15 at www.thatsmyroof.com. Since June there has been a monthly winner. At the end of the contest, one of the five monthly winners will receive the grand prize, which is a refund for the cost of their new roof, up to $10,000.

Do you or a friend have a living space that resembles any part of the "Brady Bunch" era? If so, you’re in luck. True Value Hardware is intervening. The company is inviting DIYers to remedy hideous, dated designs by entering the “Design SOS: Friends to the Rescue” contest.
