Could $1.399 million Greenlawn listing set a record?
If you like to monitor the real estate listings, you might have seen a head-turner in Greenlawn last week -- this Colonial, on Stony Hollow Road, appeared on the market for $1.399 million.
Granted, the four-bedroom, 4.5-bath home is on 2.21 acres with an inground pool, a pool house and a cottage in the prestigious Harborfields school district. But if the owners get anywhere near their asking price, wouldn't this be a record for the Suffolk community?
No, it would not, says listing agent Timothy Cavanagh of the Huntington office of Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate. And he's armed with stats to prove it.
In 2007, a stylish, newly constructed Colonial on Old Hills Court sold for $1.825 million. The buyers got an acre of land in that deal.
That house and the one Cavanagh is selling are both located in north Greenlawn, just on the border of pricier Centerport, which is on the water. "North Greenlawn is as attractive as Centerport, and it looks the same," says Cavanagh, who sold another house in that area in 2007 for $1.25 million.
So what else is for sale in Greenlawn? Prices range from $299,900 for a 1954 cape in the Elwood school district to $1.399 million for a newly constructed Colonial in the Northport-East Northport school district that's been on the market since February.
