The nearly two-acre property sits near what was once the Talmage dairy farm. The farm’s owner, Robert Talmage, a descendant of one of East Hampton’s founding families, rode horses, using the property now for sale to play polo, according to his 2002 obituary in the East Hampton Star. It is surrounded by plank fencing to preserve the polo field atmosphere, says listing agent Jeanine Edington of Douglas Elliman Real Estate.
“There’s some agricultural reserve and scenic reserve,” Edington says. “It buffers the property and gives it a lot of privacy.”
The four-bedroom, three-bathroom home has high ceilings, including 25-foot cathedral ceilings in the great room. Outside is a new bluestone patio, a heated gunite pool and a Har-Tru tennis court.
