Elie Tahari sells Hamptons home to 'Twilight' composer

An oceanfront home in the Amagansett Dunes has traded one famous owner for another: Fashion designer Elie Tahari recently sold the five-bedroom, four-bath modernist home to film composer Carter Burwell, according to the Long Island Real Estate Report.

Burwell and his wife, artist Christine Sciulli, purchased the home for $6.5 million. It was last listed for $6.8 million, according to real estate records, which show that the house first went on the market in 2006 for $7 million.

Tahari's high-end men's and women's clothing lines can be found at stores nationwide as well as his boutiques, one in East Hampton.

Burwell has composed scores for dozens of films, including all but one by the Coen brothers. Most recently, he worked on the scores for "Twilight," "A Serious Man," "Where the Wild Things Are" and "The Blind Side."

His new three-story house is located on a dune, which the listing describes as imbuing it with the feeling of "being on a luxury ocean liner at sea." There is a hidden projection theater in the master suite, a kitchen with a commercial-grade refrigerator and double walk-in pantries, and a wraparound wall of glass in the great room.

Stuart Epstein of Devlin McNiff was the listing agent. Rylan Jacka of Sotheby's International Realty found the buyer.
