For Lisa Waszkiewicz, who grew up on Doud Street, selling the home where she and her husband, Tom, have lived for 26 years and moving from the village of Farmingdale won’t be easy.

"I grew up in Farmingdale and wanted to raise our children there as well," she says, adding the couple bought their house three doors down from her childhood home in 1995. But the Waszkiewiczes are moving to be closer to grandchildren, leaving behind a move-in ready home she says they upgraded with "teamwork, hard work, sweat and love." The house is listed for $699,000.

The approximately 2,300-square-foot house, located within walking distance to the LIRR and the vibrant Main Street with its shops and restaurants, was built in 1940 as a Cape with sturdy 4-by-6 boards and a steel beam as the main support.
