Built in 1950, the four-bedroom, one-and-a-half bathroom A-frame is decorated inside and out in a pirate theme -- even with a sculpture of pirate suspended on a rope from the ceiling. “It’s a completely different world over here, very relaxing and easy, “says owner/agent Anthony Vecchio of ARV Realty, Inc. If pirates are your thing, you’re going to love this Ocean Beach beach house on the market for $949,999. Built in 1950, the four-bedroom, one-and-a-half bathroom A-frame is decorated inside and out in a pirate theme -- even with a resin sculpture of a pirate suspended on a rope from the ceiling. It and all the other pirate paraphernalia can stay, except for the pirate slot machine. “It’s a completely different world over here, very relaxing and easy, “says owner/agent Anthony Vecchio of ARV Realty, Inc. And, like a good matey, you have to take a ferry to Fire Island to see the house.

Check out a 1926 Railroad Colonial in Lynbrook that has been converted into a Victorian -- yes, a Victorian. On the market for $439,000, the four-bedroom, one-bathroom Gothic Revival Victorian comes with stained glass windows, a copper dining room ceiling and a custom-made Victorian fireplace. The front and back doors were custom made at a Canadian company that makes doors for castles and churches. “A labor of love turned into a unique, one-of-a-kind, talk-of-the-town home perfect for a whimsical, sophisticated buyer who will fall in love at first sight,” says listing agent Barbara Green of Ed McNulty Realty.

Looking for a place with high-high ceilings -- how about a house of worship? Built in the 1920s, this Long Beach temple, Temple Beth El and now a thrift shop, has much of its original details intact. On the market for $450,000, the six-room structure is on one-half acre. The property is zoned for religious use, but listing agent Sami Schindelheim of Petrey Realty says the city is open to other possibilities for its use – a variance would have to be obtained.
