This Glen Cove home, on the market for $1.075 million, was the original carriage house of Maxwelton, the 22-acre estate of John Rogers Maxwell, built in 1898 and designed by architect William Bunker Tubby, whose other buildings include the old Nassau County Courthouse and Roslyn National Bank and Trust Company.
The four-bedroom, 21/2-bathroom home has been fully restored and sits on a half-acre. The foot of the driveway has a pair of brick pillars built from the home's original bricks. Inside are original moldings and quarter-sawn fir floors, as well as new windows with custom lead trim designed to be authentic to the home.
The living room has a custom wood-burning fireplace, and the dining room opens to two brick patios. A lower level includes a wine room with exposed brick, along with a media room and a craft room.
Kathy Wallach and Kathryn "Cottie" Maxwell Pournaras of Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty are co-listing the property.
