What’s the big idea?

This month’s House Beautiful has one – namely all the big ideas decorators never explain, as in: “You’ll never get tired of a white room.” Which happens to be a tenet of designer Vicente Wolf, and he puts it to work in a fresh-looking cottage in Southampton.

More advice that comes in handy: “I like yin and yang,” Wolfe tells writer Lisa Cregan. “dark against light, curvy against straight…” He also confesses he doesn’t like pattern and he hates rules.
