This four-bedroom Huntington Bay home overlooking the water was built on the foundation of a 40-room Mediterranean mansion called Ferguson’s Castle. It is on the market for $2.488 million.
The original structure was built in 1911 on 13 acres for Juliana Armour Ferguson, the heir of a meatpacking magnate. The property still has the walls and door from the street, as well as a fountain, grape arbor and alcove outside, says listing agent Suzanne Wehren of Signature Premier Properties.
The structure was eventually razed, and a new modern home was built on part of the estate in 1983. The 7,000-square-foot home features soaring ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the bay and indoor and outdoor pools.
“The elevation grants the best view of Huntington Bay,” Wehren says.
