If you thought you’d pass the time with some online house hunting while trapped in the house waiting out Hurricane Irene, you’re out of luck. The Multiple Listing Service of Long Island is taking its systems offline at 4 p.m. Saturday in preparation for the storm, which is expected to be a Category 1 hurricane when it arrives here.
MLSLI and the Long Island Board of Realtors shut their office doors at 3 p.m. Friday and won’t reopen until noon Monday.
Tropical-storm-force winds are expected as early as Saturday. Sunday is expected to bring the storm’s worst effects -- heavy rain and winds of up to 110 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
