SHOREHAM

4 Dartmouth Rd., $499,000

The laundry room in this four-bedroom cape was converted into a Tuscany-style wine tasting room, says listing agent Mildred Thomas of Landmark Realty of Long Island. A wrought-iron door with a curved archway leads from the dining room into the wine room, which features Travertine tile, Tuscan painted walls and a wine refrigerator.

Also off the dining room is a covered porch with a Trex porch, lighting and a ceiling fan. “So you could grab some wine from the room, sit outside under the porch at night and entertain,” Thomas says. The home offers fireplaces in the living room and den. The eat-in kitchen has granite countertops and stainless steel appliances.

There are three updated bathrooms, one of which is in the first-floor master bedroom. The finished basement has a media and game room. The laundry is also in the basement, though, Thomas says, the hookups are still available in the wine room if owners would prefer to move the machines back upstairs.

The 0.63-acre property, in Shoridge Hills, has a paved patio and firepit in the backyard. It is also steps away from a private beach, the annual fee for which is $175.

The wine refrigerator in this split-level is located in an ideal spot for entertaining, says listing agent Louise Pitlake of Douglas Elliman Real Estate. It’s built into the end of a center island that separates the open kitchen and great room. “People want wine refrigerators and they want everything opened up with no walls,” Pitlake says. “This is how young people entertain today.”

The kitchen in the home features Italian white porcelain tile floors and custom white wood cabinets. All appliances are stainless steel, including a double oven and farmhouse sink, which is built into the granite counter but has an exposed front. The center island, also granite, includes a prep sink and buffet ledge. Pendant lights, in addition to recessed lighting, hang above.

On the wall in the great room, which has hardwood floors and barrel vaulted ceilings, is an electric fire feature that’s operated by remote control. “It works like a fireplace,” Pitlake says, “but it hangs on the wall like a piece of art.”

The home, which Pitlake says was completely gutted and redone, has four bedrooms and 1 1⁄2 bathrooms, each with vessel sinks and custom glass tiles. The backyard on the 86-by-100-foot lot includes a paver patio and a firepit.

WANTAGH

3163 Elm Place, $899,000

In this five-bedroom Colonial, the wine refrigerator is located in a center island that’s beneath a recessed coffered ceiling, says listing agent Jonathan Miller of NY Online Realty. “It’s a custom wood-built kitchen with high-end appliances,” Miller says. “And most people don’t have a wine fridge, so that’s always a nice touch.”

The wine refrigerator is stainless steel, as is the microwave, which is also built into the island, and the six-burner stove. The main refrigerator and freezer are integrated to match the kitchen’s white wood cabinets. In addition to the recessed lighting that surrounds the coffered ceiling, the kitchen also includes under-cabinet lighting.

Stained oak floors are featured throughout the house, which features a two-story foyer. Sliding glass doors in both the kitchen and the family room lead to a back deck that’s covered by an awning. The home’s 3 1⁄2 bathrooms all feature granite counters. The master bedroom has two walk-in closets and a full bathroom with a Jacuzzi.

The 66-by-140-foot property, located in the Brookside Estates section of Wantagh, includes a basement with a bedroom, full bathroom, den and an outside entrance and garage entrance. The home also has a central vacuum and a generator with a switch plate.
