Kings Point mansion lists for $50M

A waterfront Kings Point mansion could be mistaken for one in Versailles. In fact, some of its materials were taken from French chateaus. It is on the market for $50 million.

The home, with an exterior of French limestone — some of which is said to be the last remaining marble from the French quarry used to build Versailles — sits on Manhasset Bay with a private deepwater dock. At the end of a long Belgian cobblestone driveway, the 3-acre property features a marble fountain imported from the Rothschild estate in France, as well as a blue marble infinity pool and hot tub overlooking the water. 

Inside the 26,000-square-foot home, a great room features paneling removed from centuries-old French chateaus, a ceiling hand-painted with gold leaf, windows with hardware made from antique molds used in Versailles and other French castles, and Parquet de Versailles floors taken from Versailles chateaus. The master suite spans three floors and features a two-story walk-in closet served by an elevator.

Other amenities include a home theater, a billiards room with walls made of imported French leather, an onyx Turkish bath and a massive eat-in kitchen with a stone pizza oven and La Cornue range.
