One Lindenhurst house for sale comes with a feature not often seen in the suburbs — an intercom system.

“When someone comes up to the house and pushes the doorbell button, we get audio and video upstairs so we can see the person before we decide to talk to them or not,” says owner Carl Schroeder, who is selling the four-bedroom, two-bathroom home with his wife, Jenine, for $329,000. “At that point if we want to let them in, we can press the buzzer release.”

With two small children ages 4 and 2, Schroeder says that having the system has been helpful. “If someone knocks on the door, the kids always want to run over and open it. Now they run over to the intercom and they look at that first.”

The high-ranch sustained some water damage on the first floor in superstorm Sandy and has since been updated. The owners also installed a generator hook-up outside the house wired into the electrical panel.

It is listed with Douglas Elliman Real Estate’s Jo Ann Boettcher.
